Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Verma’s Travel to the People’s Republic of China and the Philippines

Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard R. Verma will travel to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the Philippines May 6-10.

In the PRC, Deputy Secretary Verma will visit the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and the U.S. Consulates General in Shenyang, Shanghai, and Guangzhou to thank personnel and ensure that their teams have the right equipment and facilities to most effectively serve U.S. interests.  The Deputy Secretary will also meet with members of the U.S. business community in Shanghai to advocate for a level playing field for U.S. workers and firms operating in China.

In the Philippines, Deputy Secretary Verma will meet with senior government officials to build on the progress made during the annual U.S.-Philippines Bilateral Strategic Dialogue on April 22-23, the bilateral meeting between President Marcos and President Biden, the historic Japan-Philippines-U.S. Trilateral Leaders’ Summit on April 11, and the U.S.-Philippines 3+3 Ministerial on April 12.  The Deputy Secretary will also participate in a wreath laying ceremony at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial and host a dinner with Philippine U.S. Exchange Program alumni.
