MTE's President, Ahsan Javed, is surrounded by MTE executive leadership, staff, and representatives from the Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce as he cuts a red ribbon to commemorate the company's grand opening of its new flagship headquarters.

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. - September 15, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

MTE Corporation, a leader in power quality solutions, held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, to commemorate the grand opening of its new headquarters in Menomonee Falls. The event was attended by members of the Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce, and leadership from MTE's owners at Steel Partners. Ahsan Javed, President of MTE, spoke about the positive impact the new office space has had on the company's culture and productivity, while providing ample space for expansion. "Our new headquarters exemplifies the investments we are making in our business, employees, and community for today and for years to come," he stated.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted by Javed and the Director of the Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce, Jess Goniu.

The new facility was designed with an open floor plan, lots of natural light, and many collaboration areas, all to enable teamwork and communication. The office includes four large conference rooms, three small open offices for one-on-one meetings, and five wings of open concept cubicle desks that foster greater discussion amongst peers.

An innovative lab incorporates state-of-the-art technology which allows the company to accelerate new product development. Todd Shudarek, Director of Engineering, said the lab provides new equipment and capabilities. "Our new power quality lab allows us to rapidly prototype and test products for our customers around the world. We can be more responsive and have more space to support the growing needs of our business."

MTE made a concerted effort to patronize local contractors and vendors for work on the new facility. Nearly all of the equipment and services were from companies in Menomonee Falls or the greater Milwaukee area - HVAC, plumbing, electricians, carpet, windows, kitchen design and countertops, storage racks, lab equipment and security system.

Javed summarized by saying, "The Milwaukee area is a hub for leaders in the manufacturing automation space, and has been MTE's home for the last 40 years. Our new headquarters represents our commitment to the area, and gives us a firm foundation for growth. We're poised to do great things globally, from right here in this corner of Wisconsin."

Farm Journal’s Trust in Food Awarded USDA Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities Project

The Climate-Smart Connected Ag Project will test and evaluate a producer-centric model for accelerating the adoption of data management practices to help farmers and ranchers participate in climate-smart agriculture and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

LENEXA, Kan. - September 15, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Trust In Food™, the sustainability division of Farm Journal, has been awarded a USDA Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities project for its coalition-driven Connected Ag Project. USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack made the announcement today at Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pa., one of the country's first land-grant institutions.

The up to $40-million partnership will support different approaches to testing and evaluating climate-smart data and information in all segments of agriculture in ways that add increased value and support to producers. Program participation will equip farmers and ranchers with the information they need to be competitive in a climate-smart marketplace, including access to personalized support services, coaching and direct payments for eligible participants.

Trust In Food will lead planning and execution of the Connected Ag Project, a turnkey program to learn how to close the digitized farm data gap and share those learnings across row crop, livestock, specialty crop and integrated farms and ranches. Organizations collaborating to deliver the project will provide producers with products, services and other benefits, including on-farm data management tools, data coaches, technical support to implement climate-smart practices and a virtual help desk.

"Production and management data is key to unlocking the potential of climate-smart agriculture for producers," says Amy Skoczlas Cole, executive vice president of Trust In Food. "Yet we know there are many real and perceived obstacles to the transition to digitally connected operations. We're honored to put the nearly 150-year history of Farm Journal's service to agriculture to work by helping producers through this next big revolution in agriculture."

Project partners are AGI/Farmobile, AgriWebb, AMVAC/SIMPAS, Association of Equipment Manufacturers, Certis Biologicals, Ducks Unlimited, Farm Journal Foundation, National Pork Board, The Sustainability Consortium, Trimble and Tuskegee University.

Secretary Vilsack's announcement took place roughly three hours west of Bucks County, Pa., the birthplace of Farm Journal founder Wilmer Atkinson, a Quaker farmer. The Connected Ag project will build on Atkinson's legacy, leveraging Farm Journal's expertise, reach and first-hand knowledge and insights of farmers to help them in their climate-smart agriculture journey.

Evergreen Podcasts, an emerging growth podcast production and distribution company, and Emergent Risk International, a Dallas-based risk advisory firm, are proud to announce a new podcast, Disinformation, a deep dive into one of the most important issues of our time. It will be hosted by veteran Washington journalist Paul Brandus.

"Disinformation plays a role in nearly every aspect of our lives today, undermining trust in institutions and accelerating conflict," says Meredith Wilson, the Chief Executive Officer of Emergent Risk International, the global risk advisory firm providing content, direction, and commentary throughout the series. "Disinformation, for our multinational clients, also raises their risk profile and can wreak havoc on their brand, sometimes in minutes. It can impact elections and financial markets; it can even cause physical damage to infrastructure. We're pleased to work with Evergreen on this podcast to highlight this important topic."

The series will be hosted by Paul Brandus, Emergent Risk International's communications director and longtime Washington journalist, historian, author, and keynote speaker. He is also a contributing columnist for Dow Jones/MarketWatch. Brandus has lent his talents to a number of other award-winning podcasts at Evergreen, including First Lady to Jackie O, a Gold Muse Award-winning companion podcast to his best-selling book on the same topic.

"This podcast series is a great exploration into disinformation, the history, the technology, and how it can impact everything from war and peace, to elections, financial markets, trust in our institutions, and more," says Michael DeAloia, Evergreen's chief executive officer. "It is a vitally important topic, and we're thrilled to partner with Emergent Risk International. We're also delighted to be working with host Paul Brandus again, a clever and engaging storyteller."

The show will be produced and edited by Evergreen's Noah Foutz, an award-winning music composer and podcast producer who earned the Silver Muse Award alongside Brandus for the show West Wing Reports on the Evergreen Podcast Network.

KlimaDAO Cleans Up HFC-23 Credits From the Base Carbon Tonne (BCT) Pool

There are approximately 672,000 tonnes of HFC-23 credits within the BCT pool, KlimaDAO's community has voted to remove them from the pool to improve the quality of contained credits.

SAN FRANCISCO - September 15, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

KlimaDAO has announced that it has allocated a limited amount of its treasury holdings to remove the HFC-23 credits from the Base Carbon Tonne pool and "burn" them - an act which means that the environmental benefit of these tokenized carbon credits cannot be claimed by any entity or organization. You can view the details here.

HFC-23 carbon credits were phased out from the Verra Registry in January 2014 after they were banned in the compliance markets, with concerns cited around HFC-23 facilities gaming the system to create new carbon credit issuances that could be sold on into the market for a profit.

Two carbon projects had been registered with the Verra Registry prior to the phase-out, with one issuance made from the Yingpeng HFC23 Decomposition Project of 4.5mn credits. A number of these credits remain live on the Verra Registry, meaning their environmental benefit can still be claimed through the retirement of the credits. Data from AlliedOffsets shows that up until 2020, these credits have been retired by a number of entities to claim their environmental benefit.

The initial design of the Base Carbon Tonne pool by the Toucan Protocol allowed a broad range of carbon credits to be deposited in the pool, providing they had a vintage of 2008 and onwards. It wasn't until a number of HFC-23 credits had been deposited into the pool, and concerns were raised about the quality of these credits, that the depositing of HFC-23 credits was blacklisted by Toucan.

Today, KlimaDAO holds over 90% of the Base Carbon Tonne pool within its treasury reserves and its liquidity pools on the SushiSwap platform. The primary function of the credits within the liquidity pools is to enable users of on-chain carbon to acquire tokenized carbon credits and claim their environmental benefit of them efficiently and transparently by retiring them on the blockchain using KlimaDAO's retirement aggregator infrastructure

To address concerns around the quality of these credits, KlimaDAO utilized its decentralized governance process to host a discussion with its community members on its Forum about the removal of these credits from its ecosystem. A token vote of the community members on the SnapShot platform passed with 83% approval to destroy the credits.

The approximately 672,000 HFC-23 credits in the BCT pool have now been burnt and removed from KlimaDAO's tokenized carbon credit ecosystem.

Drew Bonneau of KlimaDAO said, "Both market commentary and the available data on the HFC-23 credits demonstrate to us that this credit is considered at best low-quality, and at worst valueless. After discussing the issue with our community it is clear to us that removing these tokenized carbon credits from our ecosystem is the desired approach."

Bonneau added, "One of our strengths as a DAO is that we are able to bring in the perspectives of our 70,000-strong community, which includes a number of advisors from across the carbon market - we are grateful for their engagement and encourage continued participation with our DAO's governance processes as we develop our ecosystem in line with market needs."

About KlimaDAO

KlimaDAO is an on-chain scaling solution for the Voluntary Carbon Market. By combining tokenized carbon credits with a blockchain-enabled technology stack, KlimaDAO aims to open up the market to greater transparency and efficiency.

Momentum Continues to Grow for Sheriff Villanueva’s Re-Election Campaign

New Endorsements by Local 13, Culver City POA, Hawthorne POA, National Latino POA, the Los Angeles Metropolitan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and more.

SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. - September 14, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

The campaign to re-elect Sheriff Alex Villanueva announces additional endorsements by law enforcement agencies and labor unions including the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (Local 13), Culver City POA, Hawthorne POA, National Latino Peace Officers Association, and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Additional endorsements this month include Torrance Mayor, George Chen; La Verne Councilmember, Meshal Kashifalghita; and The Compton Herald.

"To continue to see my fellow law enforcement agencies rally behind me gives me confidence that the work we have done over the past four years is working and that they believe in my leadership to continue progressive change. I am also proud to have the endorsement of the hard working women and men of the International Longshore Union. The harbor is not only an economic engine, it is a symbol of the best of our region- good people, hard workers," said Sheriff Alex Villanueva.

"Sheriff Villanueva is the type of leader we need. He is transparent, accountable, and his popularity is on the rise. On behalf of over 9,500 union members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Local 13 is proud to endorse Sheriff Villanueva for a second term," said Ramon Ponce de Leon, President of Local 13.

As the campaign heats up, Sheriff Villanueva still leads in fundraising and took part in two debates against Former Long Beach Police Chief, Robert Luna: the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association presented by FOX 11 News and KBLA 1580.

The next debate will be held on Wednesday, September 21, at the Skirball Cultural Center and is co-sponsored by The Los Angeles Times, FOX Los Angeles, Univision and KPCC. You can tune in live for the Sheriff's debate at 6pm PST on FOX.

Sheriff Villanueva's plan for his second term will focus on five key components:

  • Reduce Crime, especially violent crime. End the social experiment of defunding the police. End the hiring freeze, and begin to get more cops and detectives on the street. If the Board of Supervisors won't do it, it will be taken to the ballot.
  • Expand the internationally recognized Homeless Outreach Services Team (HOST). Support the city's unhoused in getting the help they need while regulating public space.
  • Dismantle the Homeless Industrial Complex and use those valuable resources to fund proven methods to treat drug addiction and mental health.
  • Build a Regional Coalition led by local communities to improve our regional ability to treat mental health. This means re-opening the mental health facilities Sacramento politicians shut down over the last 25 years.
  • Create a Regional Collaborative, Multi-Agency Collaborative Taskforce to address political corruption in Southern California.
