SINGAPORE – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and Singapore’s Minister of Communications and Information Josephine Teo convened a roundtable discussion with business and tech leaders on artificial intelligence (AI). Secretary Raimondo and Minister Teo emphasized the importance of ensuring that economies are able to harness the full potential of AI, while also promoting the highest standards for designing, developing, and deploying AI responsibly. The two also discussed ongoing collaboration between the United States and Singapore on AI, including efforts to align our respective risk mitigation frameworks for AI governance. They also facilitated a dialogue with U.S. and Singaporean leaders in technology and innovation to hear industry’s priorities and opportunities for increased bilateral cooperation between the United States and Singapore to advance their global leadership in AI governance. The Department of Commerce and Singapore Ministry of Communications and Information also issued a fact sheet overviewing current and future U.S.-Singapore collaboration on AI.
