United States Ambassador-at-Large Dyer’s Travel to Malaysia

U.S. Ambassador-at-Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, Cindy Dyer, will travel to Malaysia, October 14-18, 2023.  During her visit, she will meet with senior government officials, civil society organizations, and private industry to deepen understanding and collective coordination on anti-trafficking efforts.

The Ambassador will meet with senior Malaysian officials and civil society on shared efforts to address Malaysia’s human trafficking challenges. She will advocate for progress in the most critical areas, including training officials on victim identification and expanding labor protections for workers especially in the industries in which they are most vulnerable to exploitation, such as the palm oil and disposable glove manufacturing industries.  She will meet with government officials from the Ministry of Human Resources and Department of Labor; Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development; and the Ministry of Home Affairs including Minister Saifuddin Nasution and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (MAPO) Council Undersecretary Syuhaida Binti Abdul Wahab Zen.  Ambassador Dyer will also participate in discussions with international organizations working on anti-trafficking efforts.
